Tomato Tartare

Would you be interested in trying a “steak tartare” without using beef? This vegan recipe will impress you with the classic tartare flavors, and you won’t miss the beef.

200 g preserved, dried tomatoes in olive oil, finely chopped
2-3 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon chives (or onions), finely chopped
1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped
5 leaves basil, finely chopped
6 capers, finely chopped
tabasco
salt
black pepper, freshly ground

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, seasoning to taste.  Fill the form with the tartare mixture and press down lightly.  Keep it refrigerated for a couple of hours before serving.

Optional: To serve the tartare you can flip it onto a plate.

Garnish with fresh herbs and/or capers.

Serve it cold with crackers, toasts, or focaccia. The perfect appetizer!
